The correct answer is Neither 1 nor 2.

      Equatorial low pressure belt -

  • The "Equatorial low-pressure belt" is also called as "Doldrums".
  • It is called "Doldrums" due to the absence of air movement and generation of low intense pressure.
  • This belt exists between 10 degrees north to 10 degrees south latitude.
  • This belt is created by high insolation and the convective rise of air.
  • This belt represents the zone of convergence of N-E and S-E Trade winds.
  • The equator low pressure belt also forms the Inter tropical convergence zone ( ITCZ).
  • This is the zone of convergence of trade winds blowing equator ward from the subtropical belt of high pressure in the northern and southern hemisphere.

       ITCZ -

  • It stands for the Intertropical convergence zone.
  • It is known as Doldrums or calms because of it's monotonous and windless weather.
