Correct Answer - Option 2 : 42 years

Given:

P’s age is thrice R’ age. Ratio of age of Q 6 years ago to age of R 3 years hence is 2 ∶ 1. R is 34 years younger than S. S is 4 years older than P.

Formula:

If ratio of A and B is = x ∶ y

∴ A / B = x / y

Calculation:

Let, present age of R = x

∴ Present age of P = 3x

According to the question,

⇒ 3x + 4 = x + 34

⇒ 2x = 30

⇒ x = 15

∴ Present age of R = 15 years

Let, present age of Q = y

According to the question,

⇒ (y - 6) / (15 + 3) = 2 / 1

⇒ y - 6 = 2 × 18

⇒ y = 42

∴ Present age of Q = 42 years
