Correct Answer - Option 2 : incidence loss

Concept:

  • The loss due to mismatch of direction of relative velocity fluid velocity at inlet with inlet blade angle is known as Incident loss.
  • Frictional loss is due to the friction between flowing fluid and parts of compressor such as blade.
  • Certain minimum clearances are necessary between the impeller shaft and the casing and between the outlet periphery of the impeller eye and the casing.
  • The leakage of gas through the shaft clearance is cause loss which is termed as leakage or clearance loss. Leakage loss may be due to leakage at some other locations also.
