Lord Lytton-:

  • The title of  "Rai Bahadur" and "Khan Bahadur" began to conferred to Indians during the ruling period of Lord Lytton.
  • The first Delhi Darbar was organized during his period.
  • The Vernacular Press Act and the Arms Act were enacted into laws by Viceroy Lord Lytton.
  • The Vernacular Press Act (1878) was aimed to cripple regional language newspaper that prints against the government by seizing their printing press.


Lord Minto-:

  • In 1909 Lord Minto was the Viceroy of India when the Indian Council Act was formulated.
  • During that time Lord Morley was the Secretary of state for India.
  • This act is also known as Morley-Minto Reforms.
  • Under this act Principal of direct election was included.
  • This act also authorized members of the legislative council to ask supplementary questions to members of the executive council.


Lord Curzon-:

  • He was the Viceroy of India from 1899-1905.
  • Several events happened during his reign.
  • Partition of Bengal was an important event that happened.
  • Established Archeological Survey of India.
  • 2nd Delhi Darbar was organized.


Lord Ripon-:

  • Lord Ripon(1880-1884) had repealed the Vernacular Press act in 1882 which was enacted in 1878 during the Anglo Afgan war.
  • His reign has also witnessed several notable events like the Ilbert BillFirst Factory Act, Negotiable instrument Act.
