  • Structurally the galaxies are formed in three forms. They are:
  • Spiral galaxies have a central nucleus with great spiral arms. Eg: Milky way, Andromeda.
  • Elliptical galaxies are galaxies without spiral arms.
  • Irregular galaxies are galaxies with no shape.
  • A Galaxy is made up of millions of stars held together by the force of gravity and these stars account for most of the mass of the galaxy.
