Direction: A passage is given below followed by a possible conclusion which can be drawn from the facts stated in the passage. You have to assume information in the passage is true and examine the conclusion separately in the context of the passage and decide upon its degree of truth or falsity.

Passage: Demonetization of currency means discontinuity of the particular currency from circulation and replacing it with a new currency. On 8 November 2016, the government of India announced the demonetization of all ₹500 and ₹1000 banknotes of the Mahatma Gandhi Series. The government’s stated objective behind the demonetization policy is as follows; first, it is an attempt to make India corruption free. Second, it is done to curb black money, third to control escalating price rise, fourth to stop funds flow to illegal activity, fifth to make people accountable for every rupee they possess and pay income tax return. Finally, it is an attempt to make a cashless society and create a Digital India.

Conclusion: The government of India may announce demonetization of ₹50 and ₹100 banknotes of Mahatma Gandhi series.

1. The conclusion is definitely true, i.e., it properly follows from the statement of given facts.
2. The conclusion is probably true though not definitely true in the lights of the given facts.
3. The data are inadequate, i.e., from the given facts you can’t say whether the conclusion is likely to be true or false.
4. The conclusion is probably false though not ‘definitely false’ in the light of the given facts.
5. The conclusion is definitely false i.e., it can’t possibly be drawn from the given facts or it contradicts the given facts.

Correct Answer - Option 5 : The conclusion is definitely false i.e., it can’t possibly be drawn from the given facts or it contradicts the given facts.

The correct answer is Option 5, i.e. The conclusion is definitely false i.e., it can’t possibly be drawn from the given facts or it contradicts the given facts.

As nothing about the government’s future plans is given in the passage, the conclusion is definitely false as this conclusion can’t be drawn from the facts given. It has been nowhere mentioned that the government would discontinue  ₹50 and ₹100 banknotes of Mahatma Gandhi series. So, no opinion can be made regarding the provided conclusion due to lack of information in the passage.

Thus, the correct answer is option 5.
