Best answer

1. The element with atomic number 17 is chlorine.

2. Its electronic configuration is 1s2 2s2p6 3s2 3p5

3. So, the total number of electrons present in s orbitals = 2 + 2 + 2 = 6.

4. The total number of electrons present in p orbitals = 6 + 5 = 11.
