The maximum lift in a centrifugal pump would be close ‘X’ if the pump is handling cold water (25°C) from an open tank at sea level with no friction and turbulence loses, where ‘X’ is equal to

Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 1 : 10 m

Concept:

A lift will be maximum when the pressure at the pump impeller reaches absolute zero

∴ drop in pressure for lift x

ρgx = 1.01 × 105

\( \Rightarrow x = \frac{{1.01 \times {{10}^5}}}{{9810}} = 10.3\;m\)

x ≈ 10 m
