Assertion (A): The slope deflection method is a stiffness method in which the joint displacements are found by applying the equilibrium conditions at each joint.

Reason (R): The displacement at a joint of a member is independent of the displacement the member at the far end of the joint.

1. Both assertion (A) and Reason (R) are individually true and Reason (R) is the correct explanation of Assertion (A).
2. Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are individually true but Reason (R) is NOT the correct explanation of Assertion (A).
3. Assertion (A) is true but Reason (R) is false.

Correct Answer - Option 2 : Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are individually true but Reason (R) is NOT the correct explanation of Assertion (A).

In slope deflection equation method

Dk < Ds

∴ Unknown number of displacement are found by forming equilibrium condition at joint, second statement is also correct but not the correct explanation for the assertion.
