A ray is incident on a plate at angle 45° inside water. Find the refraction angle in the plate? (The absolute refractive index of plate and water are 1.88 and 1.33 respectively) –

Correct Answer - Option 1 : 30°

Let the refraction angle be ‘r’

So, \({w^{{\mu _g}}} = \frac{{\sin i}}{{\sin r}}\)

\(\Rightarrow \frac{{{\mu _g}}}{{{\mu _w}}} = \frac{{\sin i}}{{\sin r}}\)

\(\Rightarrow \sin r = \sin 45^\circ \times \frac{{1.33}}{{1.88}}\)

\(= \frac{1}{{\sqrt 2 }} \times \frac{{1.33}}{{1.88}} = \frac{1}{2}\)

r = 30°
