Correct Answer - Option 1 : Chenani-Nashri

The correct answer is Chenani-Nashri Tunnel.

  • Dr. Syama Road Tunnel in Jammu is the longest highway tunnel in India.
  • This tunnel was earlier known as Chenani Nashri Tunnel.
  • It is the nine km long tunnel that connects Udhampur to Ramban in Jammu.
  • It cuts down 31 km of travel distance and reduces the travel time between the two points by about two hours, in addition to substantial savings in fuel cost.
  • It is the first tunnel in India to be equipped with an "integrated tunnel control system" through which ventilation, fire control, signals, communication, and electrical systems would be automatically controlled.
  • Around 124 cameras are installed inside the tunnel for traffic surveillance and the operators at the main control centre.

Jawahar Tunnel:

  • Banihal Pass is also known as Jawahar Tunnel.
  • It is situated in the Pir- Panjal Range.
  • It connects Banihal with Qazigund.
