Correct Answer - Option 1 : Huna invasions

The correct answer is Huna invasions.

  • The main reason for the decline of the Gupta empire was the Huna invasions.
  • From the time of Kumargupta I the Gupta Empire was threatened by the Hunas, a central Asian tribe.
  • However, their attacks were repulsed during that period by Skandagupta.
  • But in the late 5th century, Huna chief Tormana established his authority over large parts of western and Central India.
  • Therefore, leading to the decline of the Gupta Empire in northern and western regions of the empire.
