Given:

Length of rectangle = 50 m

Breadth of rectangle = 40 m

Width of path = 6 m

Formula Used:

Area of rectangle = Length × breadth

Calculation:

Length of outer rectangle = 50 m

Breadth of outer rectangle = 40 m

⇒ Area of outer rectangle = 50 × 40 = 2000 m²

Length of inner rectangle = 50 - 6 - 6 = 38 m

Breadth of inner rectangle = 40 - 6 - 6 = 28 m

⇒ Area of inner rectangle = 38 × 28 = 1064 m²

Area of path = Area of outer rectangle - Area of inner rectangle 

⇒ Area of path = 2000 - 1064 = 936 m²
