  • The rural rate has increased from 63.2 per cent to 71.4 per cent, whereas the urban rate has increased from 79.2 per cent in 2001 to 83.1 per cent in 2011.
  • According to these numbers, Haryana has outperformed the national average literacy rate, while Gurgaon has outperformed the national literacy rate among cities throughout the country.
  • After Gurgaon, Panchkula came in second with an 81.9 per cent literacy rate, followed by Ambala with an 81.7 per cent literacy rate.
