Correct Answer - Option 1 : Hg

Ore is natural rock or sediment that contains one or more valuable minerals, typically containing metals, that can be mined, treated and sold at a profit.

Cinnabar is the bright scarlet to brick-red form of Mercury(II) sulfide (HgS).

  • It is the most common source ore for refining elemental mercury (Hg)
  • It is the historic source for the brilliant red or scarlet pigment termed vermilion and associated red mercury pigments.

Hence we can conclude that Cinnabar is an ore of Hg.

  • Zn ore: Calamine (ZnCO3), is most common zinc ore.
  • Ag ore: Various ores such as Argentite (Ag2S), Chlorargyrite ("horn silver," AgCl), and Galena (a lead ore) often containing significant amounts of silver.
  • Cu ore: Pyrite (FeS2), Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) Chalcocite (Cu2S), Covellite (CuS), Bornite (Cu5FeS4), Tetrahedrite ((Cu,Fe)12Sb4S13) and Enargite (Cu3AsS4)
