Correct Answer - Option 3 : 3.0 litres

Given:

Quantity of solution = 3 l

Salt content in the solution = 10%

Calculation:

Salt content initially = (0.1)3 = 0.3 l

Water = 3 - 0.3 = 2.7 l

Let water to be added is x litres to make it 5% salt-solution

Then, (2.7 + x)/0.3 = 95/5

⇒ 5.7 = 2.7 + x

⇒ x = 3

∴ Water to be added is 3 litres
