Correct Answer - Option 4 : Rs. 38000

Given:

Ratio of salaries of Rajesh and Sunil = 2 : 3

Salary of each in increased by Rs. 4000

After increment of salary, ratio of salary becomes 40 : 57

Calculation:

Let the initial salaries of Rajesh and Sunil be 2x and 3x

Then, according to the question:

(2x + 4000)/(3x + 4000) = 40/57

⇒ 120x + 160000 = 114x + 228000

⇒ 6x = 68000

⇒ 3x = 34000

⇒ 3x + 4000 = 38000

∴ Sunil's present salary is Rs. 38000
