Correct Answer - Option 4 : Q

Six persons: P, Q, R, S, T and U

Floors: 1, 2, and 3

Flat: X and Y

(1) P lives on an odd numbered floor in flat X. Therefore, we get two the following two cases here.

Case (I)

Case (II)

Floor

Flat - X

Flat - Y

Flat - X

Flat - Y

3

P

2

P

(2) The one who is from Kolkata lives immediately above C.
(3) S lives to the west of U.
(4) P and the one who is from Kolkata do not live on the same floor.

Case (I)

Case (II)

Floor

Flat - X

Flat - Y

Flat - X

(5) T does not live in flat Y.
(6) There is one floor between Q and the one who is from Delhi who lives above Q. Since, only flat Y of floor 3 is left for Q in case (I), case (I) eliminates here.

Case (II)

Floor

Flat - X

Flat - Y

T (Delhi)

Q

(7) Neither S nor Q is from Bangalore.
(8) U is either from Pune or from Agra (implies, P is from Bangalore).
(9) The one who is from Mumbai lives on the same floor on which the one who is from Agra lives (implies, S is from Mumbai and U is from Agra). Thus, the final arrangement is as follows:

Case (II)

Floor

Flat - X

Flat - Y

3

T (Delhi)

R (Kolkata)

2

S (Mumbai)

U (Agra)

1

P (Bangalore)

Q (Pune)

Hence, Q lives in Flat - Y.
