Correct Answer - Option 1 : A - iv, B - iii, C - ii, D - i

India’s Constitution is the supreme law of India.

  • It defines the Government’s fundamental political values, policies, processes, powers, rights, and duties.
  • It conveys constitutional supremacy & not parliamentary supremacy because it is not established by the Parliament but by a constituent assembly and adopted by its citizens, with a declaration in its preamble.

Let's look at the important leaders who played an important role in the making of the constitution:

  • Motilal Nehru- All Parties Conference convened by the Congress Party, appointed a Committee under Pandit Motilal Nehru to draft a Swaraj Constitution for India.
    • The Nehru Committee worked from June to August 1928 and drafted a Constitution.
    • This was the first Indian attempt at Constitution-making.
  • B.R. Ambedkar- Upon India's independence on 15 August 1947, the new Congress-led government invited Ambedkar to serve as the nation's first Law Minister. On 29 August, he was appointed Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee and was appointed by the Assembly to write India's new Constitution.
  • Rajendra PrasadHe was elected as President of the Constituent Assembly of India, which prepared the Constitution of India and served as its provisional parliament. When India became a republic in 1950, Prasad was elected its first president by the Constituent Assembly.
  • Sarojini NaiduShe was a member of the fundamental rights sub-committee, the advisory committee, and the provincial constitutional committee. In the constituent assembly, she fitted right in with the other women.

Thus, we can say that A - iv, B - iii, C - ii, D - i are the correct match.
