  • Hydra may have one or more bulges. These bulges are called buds.
    • Budding is a process in which a growth (bud) is formed on the body of the parent organism which then detaches and becomes a new organism such as yeast and hydra.

  • Types of reproduction
    • Asexual reproduction: This type of reproduction in which only one single parent is involved is called asexual reproduction.
    • Sexual reproduction: This type of reproduction beginning from the fusion of male and female gametes is called sexual reproduction.

  • Regeneration: The process of getting back a complete organism from the body parts of present individuals is called regeneration,
  • Fragmentation: In this process, an organism breaks into two or more pieces and each piece develops into an adult organism. eg. Spirogyra.
  • Fission: A cell dividing into two or more.
