Correct Answer - Option 3 : Mir-Qasim

The correct answer is Mir-Qasim.

  • Mir-Qasim the Nawabs of Bengal abolished all duties on internal trade.
    • The employers of the company misused their trade privileges. They sold their duty-free trade points to Indian merchants who also used them to carry on duty-free trade.
      • This deprived the Nawab of large revenues. To put an end to the corrupt practices of the British, Mir Qasim abolished all duties on internal trade.

  • Mir Qasim was the Nawab of Bengal from 1760 to 1763.
  • Mir Qasim nawab of Bengal. He was put on the throne of Murshidabad by the east India company, replacing his father-in-law Mir Jafar, on 20 October 1760.
  • Qasim fell out with the British and fought against them at Buxar. His defeat has been suggested as a key reason for the British becoming the dominant power in large parts of North and East India.
