Correct Answer - Option 1 : 22

Given:

Marked price = Rs.300

Three discounts = 20%, x% and 5%

Selling price = Rs.177.84

Calculation:

Discounted price = 300 - 177.84 = Rs.122.16

Single equivalent discount = 100 - 100 × (100 - 20)/100 × (100 - x)/100 × (100 - 5)/100

= 100 - 100 × 80/100 × (100 - x)/100 × 95/100

= 100 - 76 + 0.76x

= 24 + 0.76x

Then,

⇒ 122.16 = 300 × (24 + 0.76x)/100

⇒ 0.76x = 16.72

⇒ x = 22

∴ The value of x is 22.
