Correct Answer - Option 3 : AB+

The correct answer is AB+.

  • Type AB-positive blood is called the "universal recipient" type because a person who has it can receive blood of any type.
  • Individuals with type O Rh D negative blood are often called universal donors.
  • However, these terms are only generally true with respect to possible reactions of the recipient's anti-A and anti-B antibodies to transfused red blood cells, and also possible sensitization to Rh D antigens.

  • The blood group was discovered by Karl Landsteiner in 1901.
  • About Rh factor:
    • The Rh factor is a protein that can be found on the surface of red blood cells.
    • If your blood cells have this protein, you are Rh-positive.
    • If your blood cells do not have this protein, you are Rh-negative
