Vitamin B12 Cobalt
Hemoglobin Iron
Chlorophyll Magnesium
Brass Copper

  • Vitamin B12
    • Vitamin B-12 is important for the brain function and the synthesis of red blood cells.".
    • The deficiency of vitamin B-12 can lead to neurological difficulties and anemia.
    • People over the age of 14 should consume more than 2.4 micrograms (mcg) of vitamin B-12 daily.
    • Vitamin B-12 is naturally available in meats, but people who do not eat meat, such as vegans, can obtain vitamin B-12 in supplement form.
  • Hemoglobin
    •  Hemoglobin (Hb) is a protein found in red blood cells that carries oxygen in your body and gives blood its red color.
    • Hemoglobin levels vary from person to person.
    • Men usually have higher levels than women.
    • A hemoglobin “cut-off” level is set for blood donation to ensure that your hemoglobin will not drop below normal after you have donated blood.
    • Normal ranges for hemoglobin differ between ethnic populations, and males and females, and are also affected by age, especially in women.
    • Individuals with hemoglobin levels below the normal range are, by definition, anemic.
  • Chlorophyll
    • Chlorophyll is the molecule that absorbs sunlight and uses its energy to synthesize carbohydrates from CO2 and water.
    • This process is known as photosynthesis and is the basis for sustaining the life processes of all plants.
    • Since animals and humans obtain their food supply by eating plants, photosynthesis can be said to be the source of our life also.
    • Chlorophyll is the molecule that traps this 'most elusive of all powers' - and is called a photoreceptor.
    • It is found in the chloroplasts of green plants and is what makes green plants, green.
    • The basic structure of a chlorophyll molecule is a porphyrin ring, coordinated to a central atom.
    • This is very similar in structure to the heme group found in hemoglobin, except that in heme the central atom is iron, whereas in chlorophyll it is magnesium.
  • Brass
    • Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc and is of historical and enduring importance because of its hardness and workability.
    • The earliest brass was called calamine brass and which dates to Neolithic times.
    • It was probably made by the reduction of mixtures of zinc ores and copper ores.
    • In ancient documents, such as the Bible, the term brass is often used to denote bronze, the alloy of copper with tin.
