Correct Answer - Option 3 : x ≥ y

Given:

x2 – 14x + 48 = 0

y2 – y – 30 = 0

Calculation:

I. x2 – 14x + 48 = 0

⇒ x2 – 6x – 8x + 48 = 0

⇒ x(x – 6) – 8(x – 6) = 0

⇒ (x – 6)(x – 8) = 0

⇒ x = 6, 8

II. y2 – y – 30 = 0

⇒ y2 – 6y + 5y – 30 = 0

⇒ y(y – 6) + 5(y – 6) = 0

⇒ (y – 6)(y + 5) = 0

⇒ y = -5, 6
