  • Prabhas Joshi:
    • Prabhash Joshi was an Indian Journalist, writer and political analyst.
    • He was strongly in favour of "ethics and transparency".
    • He played a part in the Gandhian movement, Bhoodan movement, and in the surrender of bandits and in the struggle against emergency.
    • Prabhas Joshi Award is given by Madhya Pradesh Government for the traditional sport Mallakhamb.
    • He was with the Gandhi Peace Foundation and edited the Hindi version of Everyman’s, a journal devoted to advocating Jayaprakash’s views and sponsored by Ramnath Goenka.

  • Kabaddi:
    • Kabaddi is a contact team sport.
    • Played between two teams of seven players, the objective of the game is for a single player on offence, referred to as a "raider", to run into the opposing team's half of a court, tag out as many of their defenders as possible, and return to their own half of the court, all without being tackled by the defenders, and in a single breath.
    • Points are scored for each player tagged by the raider, while the opposing team earns a point for stopping the raider.
    • Players are taken out of the game if they are tagged or tackled, but are brought back in for each point scored by their team from a tag or tackle.
  • Mallakhamba:
    • Mallakhamb is a traditional sport, originating from the Indian subcontinent, in which a gymnast performs aerial yoga or gymnastic postures and wrestling grips in concert with vertical stationary or hanging wooden pole, cane, or rope.
    • The word Mallakhamb also refers to the pole used in the sport.
    • The pole is usually made from Sheesham (Indian rosewood) polished with castor oil.
    • Three popular versions of Mallakhamb are practised using a Sheesham pole, cane, or rope.
  • Kho-Kho:
    • Kho Kho is a popular tag team game invented in Maharashtra, India in"1914".
    • It is played by two teams of 12 nominated players out of fifteen, of which nine enter the field who sit on their knees (Chasing Team), and 3 extra (Defending Team) who try to avoid being touched by members of the other opposing team.
    • It is one of the two most popular traditional tag games in the Indian subcontinent, the other being Kabaddi.
    • The sport is widely played across South Asia and has a strong presence in South Africa and England.
  • Atya Patya:
    • Atya patya is a traditional India sport played nine to a side, between two sides.
    • It is more popular in rural areas of India.
    • It is more commonly played in Maharashtra a western Indian state.
    • Atya Patya is described as a "game of feints".
    • The playing area comprises nine trenches, coming out of either side of a central trench, points are awarded for blocking progress across the trenches made by one side, the other side blocks this progress.
