Given:

One person spent Rs. 8 more than average

Formula used:

Average = Sum of observations/Number of observations

Calculations:

Let the average be x

According to the question, we have

x = {(72 × 8) + (x + 8)}/9

⇒ 9x = 576 + x + 8

⇒ 8x = 584

⇒ x = 73

The total money spent by all of therm is

⇒ Total money = 73 × 9

⇒ Total money = Rs. 657

∴ The total spent on tickets by nine person is Rs. 657.
