  • Khudiram Bose was hanged for his attempt to assassinate a British judge, Magistrate Kingsford.
  • Bose was executed on August 11, 1908, after being held guilty for the famous Muzaffarpur conspiracy where he, made an attempt on the life of Douglas Kingsford, a British judge in colonial India.
  • Prafulla and Khudiram Bose tried to assassinate the District Judge, Mr Kingsford by throwing bombs at the carriage in which Kingsford was supposed to travel but he was not in the carriage and two British women were killed.

  • Khudiram Bose was born on 3 December 1889, He was an Indian revolutionary from the Bengal Presidency who opposed British rule of India.
  • At the age of 15, Bose joined the Anushilan Samiti, an early 20th-century organization that propounded revolutionary activities in Bengal.
  • At the time of his hanging, Khudiram was 18 years old making him one of the 2nd youngest revolutionaries in India.
  • On July 13, 1908, Bose was finally sentenced to death.

  • Douglas Kingsford, former Chief Presidency Magistrate of Calcutta was a colonial British judicial officer.
  • Kingsford was the Chief Magistrate of the Presidency Court of Alipore and had overseen the trials of Bhupendranath Dutta and other editors of Jugantar, sentencing them to rigorous imprisonment.
  • During  Kingsford time Bengal was a hotbed of revolutionaries and freedom fighters, and freedom movements were more visible in Bengal than in other regions.
