Correct Answer - Option 3 : 6 : 8 : 9

Given:

The vessel has total 540 litres of a mixture of honey, milk and water.

Honey, milk and water in the ratio of 3 : 4 : 5 respectively.

Calculation:

Let the amount of honey, milk and water be 3x, 4x and 5x respectively

According to the question, we have

3x + 4x + 5x = 540 litres

⇒ 12x = 540 litres

⇒ x = 540/12 litres

⇒ x = 45 litres

So, the amount of honey is 3x litres = (3 × 45) litres

⇒ 135 litres

And, the amount of milk is 4x litres = (4 × 45) litres

⇒ 180 litres

And, the amount of water is 5x litres = (5 × 45) litres

⇒ 225 litres

Since 15 litres of honey is added

So, the new amount of honey = (135 + 15) liters

⇒ 150 litres

And, 20 litres of milk is added

So, the new amount of milk = (180 + 20) litres

⇒ 200 litres

Now, the new ratio of honey, milk and water is 150 : 200 : 225

⇒ 6 : 8 : 9

∴ The new ratio of honey, milk and water in the vessel is 6 : 8 : 9.
