• Planning Commission was replaced by a new institution NITI AAYYOG on January 1, 2015, with emphasis on the ‘Bottom –Up’ approach to envisage the vision of Maximum Governance, Minimum Government, Sustainable development, echoing the spirit of cooperative federalism and Agricultural reforms. 
• NITI stands for “National Institution for Transforming India”.
• NITI Aayog is the premier policy ‘Think Tank’ of the Government of India, providing both directional and policy inputs. ; NITI Aayog also provides relevant technical advice to the Centre and States.
