Mayurkashi
  • Massanjore dam is about 38 kilometers (24 mi) upstream from Siuri in West Bengal.
  • It is 47 meters (155 ft) high from its base and is 660 meters (2,170 ft) long.
Mettur
  • The Mettur Dam is one of the largest dams in India and also the largest in Tamil Nadu, located across the river Cauvery where it enters the plains.
  • Built-in 1934, it took 9 years to complete.
  • The maximum height and width of the dam are 214 and 171 feet, respectively. 
Nagarjunsagar
  • Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is a masonry dam across the Krishna River at Nagarjuna Sagar which straddles the border between Nalgonda district in Telangana and Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh.
Hirakund
  • Hirakud Dam is built across the Mahanadi River, about 15 kilometers from Sambalpur in the state of Odisha in India.
  • It is the longest dam in the world. Behind the dam extends a lake, Hirakud Reservoir, 55 km long.
