Correct Answer - Option 2 : 14 days

Given:

A and B can complete the work = 25 days and 40 days

A and B work together = 10 days

Formula used:

Work = Efficiency × Time

Calculation:

A = 25 days

B = 40 days

Total work = LCM of (25, 40)

Total work = 200 unit

The efficiency of A = 200/25 = 8 unit/day

The efficiency of B = 200/40 = 5 unit/day

A and B work together for 10 days, then

⇒ (8 + 5) × 10 = 130 unit

Remaining work = 200 - 130

Remaining work = 70

⇒ Time taken by B to complete the remaining work = 70/5 = 14 days

∴ Required days to complete the remaining work by 'B' are 14 days.
