Correct Answer - Option 1 : x > y

Given:

I. x2 – 23x + 132 = 0

II. y2 = (∛216)2

Calculation:

From I,

x2 – 23x + 132 = 0

⇒ x2 – 11x – 12x + 132 = 0

⇒ x(x – 11) – 12(x – 11) = 0

⇒ (x – 11)(x – 12) = 0

Taking,

⇒ (x – 11) = 0 or  (x – 12) = 0

⇒ x = 11 or 12

From II,

y2 = (∛216)2

⇒ y2 = 36

⇒ y = 6 and -6

Comparison between x and y (via Tabulation):

Value of x

Value of y

Relation

11

6

x > y

12

6

x > y

11 -6 x > y
12 -6 x > y

 x > y.
