A cricket game is played between two teams with 50 overs. In the first ten overs of the game the run rate was only 3.2. In the next ten overs it is increased to 4.6. If the captain decides that the teams’ total should be 303 runs, what should be the run rate for the remaining 30 overs ?

Given:

Total overs = 50

Run rate of first ten overs = 3.2

Run rate of next ten overs = 4.6

Score decide by captain = 303

Formula used:

Run rate = total run/total overs

Calculation:

Run scored in first ten overs = 3.2 × 10 = 32

⇒ Run scored in next ten overs = 4.6 × 10 = 46

⇒ Total run scored in first twenty overs = 32 + 46 = 78

⇒ Remaining run to be scored = 303 - 78 = 225

 Required run rate = 225/30 = 7.5

∴ The run rate should be 7.5 for remaining 30 overs to score 303 runs.
