Formula Used:

Average = Sum of all observations/Total number of observations

Calculation:

Average age of eleven players is 28 years.

Sum of ages all 11 players, 

⇒ 11 × 28 = 308

Sum of ages of all 11 players is 308.

I. The captain is eleven years older than the youngest player.

Here, we don't have an age of the youngest player,

⇒ We can not find the age of the Captain from Statement I.

II. The average age of 10 players, other than the captain is 27.3 years.

Sum of ages 10 players, 

⇒ 10 × 27.3 = 273

Age of Captain = Sum of ages all 11 players – Sum of ages 10 players

⇒ Age of Captain = 308 – 273 = 35

∴ II alone gives the answer but not I.
