Correct Answer - Option 3 : 157 : 53

Given:

The volume of three containers 3 : 4 : 5

Calculation:

Let the volume of containers be 3 liters, 4 liters, and 5 liters

For Container I,

⇒ Milk = (4/5 × 3) = 12/5 liters

⇒ Water = (1/5 × 3) =  3/5 liters

For Container II,

⇒ Milk = (3/4 × 4) = 3 liters

⇒ Water = (1/4 × 4) = 1 liter

For Container III,

⇒ Milk = (5/7 × 5) = 25/7

⇒ Water = (2/7 × 5) = 10/7

Required ratio for the IV container,

⇒ (12/5 + 3 + 25/7) : (3/5 + 1 + 10/7)

⇒ (84 + 105 + 125)/35 : (21+ 35 + 50)/35

⇒ 314/35 : 106/35

⇒ 314 : 106

⇒ 157 : 53

∴ The ratio of milk and water in the fourth container is 157 : 53.
