  • The fertile deltas of the Krishna, Mahanadi, Godavari, and Ganga comprised of mangrove forests.
  • In the state of West Bengal, these forests are known as Sundarbans the name after the largest delta. The Sundari is the most abundant tree in these forests. The vital trees of the tidal forests are Hogla, Garan, Pasur, etc.

The Ganga Delta

An area of about 220 mi (355 km) wide along the Bay of Bengal, it is covered by the network of streams forming the mouths of the Ganges (Ganga) and Brahmaputra rivers.

The Kaveri Delta Cauvery river flows from NW to SE and drains about 81155 km2 of the southern peninsula. and the river has been dammed since 2nd Century AD at the Grand Anicut. The drainage network of the river is dense and the river forms a delta at Trichinopoly.
The Mahanadi Delta Mahanadi River Delta Mahanadi River Delta in India is a basin of the deposit that drains a large landmass of the Indian subcontinent into the Bay of Bengal.
The Godavari Delta

Vengi was an early name for the Krishna and Godavari River deltas, sites of regional kingdoms from the second century BCE Satavahana dynasty to the collapse of the Vijayanagara dynasty 1564 CE.

Many Godavari Delta luminaries contributed to the development of modern India.
