Formula Used:

Loss = CP – SP

According to the question,

⇒ Selling price of 18 articles = Cost price of 18 articles - Selling price of 2 articles

⇒ 18SP = 18CP - 2SP

⇒ 20SP = 18CP

⇒ 10SP = 9CP

SP = 9 and CP = 10

Loss = CP – SP

⇒ Loss = 10 – 9 = 1
