Correct Answer - Option 4 : 52%

Given:

Number of boys in the class = 40% of the total students

Number of boys passed the test = 40% of boys

Number of girls passed in the test = 60% of girls

Calculation:

Let the total number of students in the class be 100.

Number of boys = 40% of 100

⇒ (40/100) × 100 = 40

Number of girls = 100 - 40 = 60

The number of boys passed the test = 40% × 40

⇒ (40/100) × 40 = 16

The number of girls passed the test = 60% × 60

⇒ (60/100) × 60 = 36

Total students passed the test = 16 + 36 = 52

Now, required percentage = (52/100) × 100 = 52%

∴ The percent of total students passed is 52%.
