Correct Answer - Option 2 : 488

Given :

An article is sold for Rs.x after successive discounts of 35% and 40% and the marked price of the article is Rs. 800

Concept used :

Marked price × (100 - x)/(100) × (100 - y)/(100) = selling price

where x and y are discount%

Calculations :

According to the question

800 × (100 - 35)/(100) × (100 - 40)/(100) = x

⇒ x = [65/100] × [60/100] × 800

⇒ x = 312 rupees

Required difference = marked price - selling price

⇒ 800 - 312

⇒ 488

∴ Option 2 will be the correct answer.
