Correct Answer - Option 2 : 12 years

Let; Age of son = x years

Than; Age of father when son was born  = (x + 2) years

Present age of father = x + (x + 2)

According to question;

Age of father = 36 years

So;

36 = x + (x + 2)

2x + 2 = 36

2x = 34

x = 17 years

Age of son = 17 years

5 years ago;

The age of son = 17 - 5

= 12 years

Hence, "12 years" is the correct answer.
