Correct Answer - Option 2 : Funding

Inclusion: Inclusion as a philosophy or practice cannot be discussed meaningfully unless it is situated in the context of diversity across the members of the group, especially in the framework of inclusive education.

  • Diversity in literary terms means differences. The term diversity, when used in discourse related to people or communities or in social contexts are more specific, indicates that a group of people is made up of individuals who are different from each other in some way or the other or it means collective differences among people, that is, those differences that mark off one group of people from another.
  • For example, differences in culture, language, gender, appearance (e.g. skin color, hair type) lifestyle, social and economic status, family structure, abilities, (e.g. physical, social, creative, and intellectual), values, and beliefs.

Following factors drive effective implementation of inclusion :

Perspective: Inclusion is a process to bring all students together in one classroom and school, regardless of their strengths or weaknesses in any area, and it seeks to maximize the potential of all students.

  • For effective implementation of inclusion, a perspective towards the growth of diverse learners is necessary.

Attitude: Inclusion is a process where diversity in a group concerning any aspect is appreciated and in which everyone is recognized and respected for his/her worth.

  • An effort to make sure that diverse learners – those with disabilities, different languages and cultures, different homes and family lives, different interests and ways of learning – are taught using teaching-learning strategies adapted to individual learning needs
  • It should allow every individual to feel accepted, valued, and safe.
  • This attitude is necessary for the effective implementation of inclusion.

Awareness: An inclusive community consciously evolves to meet the changing needs of its members.

  • Through recognition and support, an inclusive community provides meaningful involvement and equal access to the benefits of citizenship.
  • It is a means of enhancing the well-being of every member of the community. Such awareness is required for the effective implication of inclusion.

  • Funding does not entirely drive effective implementation of inclusion.
  • To some extent, it drives but not entirely.
  • For example, if in a school so much funding is given in the name of inclusive education, but the mindset of teachers is not positive, they are not aware of the needs and importance of inclusion then there will be no meaning of funding so much.

Hence, we can say that funding does not entirely drive the effective implementation of inclusion.
