Correct Answer - Option 3 : decrease; decrease

A group is the aggregation of human beings. A group may have a strong influence upon the individual in that the individual gladly accepts the activities of the group. Each and every human being has their own personal interests, attitudes, values, etc. As the group consists of a number of individuals with different backgrounds etc. there are differences in the characteristic features of the various groups.

  • In order to determine how students should be classified and what instruments can best be used for making the classification, we should have in mind the reasons why they ought to be classified.
  • The chief basis of classification has grown out of the grading system, and this in turn has depended upon age as its basis.
  • Classification may be done on the basis of intelligence tests or IQ.

  • IQ is an acronym for Intelligence Quotient.  The IQ is a measurement of your intelligence and is expressed in a number.
  • An IQ test is an assessment that measures a range of cognitive abilities and provides a score that is intended to serve as a measure of an individual's intellectual abilities and potential.
  • If the students are classified on the basis of IQ, it tends to decrease their self-esteem. It may be defined as how much you appreciate and like yourself regardless of the circumstances. Students feel bad about themselves who are considered to be in the lower group.
  • Accommodates all children regardless of their physical, intellectual, social, emotional, linguistic, or other conditions is known as inclusive education.
  • Inclusive education valuing all learners equally and encouraging them to learn.

Hence, it can be concluded that classification of students in different groups on the basis of their IQ tends to decrease  their self-esteem and decrease academic performance
