Correct Answer - Option 3 : Small intestine

The correct answer is Small intestine.

The Small Intestine:

  • It is highly coiled and is about 6-8 meters long. It receives secretions from the liver and the pancreas.
  • The digested food can now pass into the blood vessels in the wall of the intestine. This process is called absorption.
  • The inner walls of the small intestine have thousands of finger-like outgrowths.
  • These are called villi. (It increases the surface area of absorption of the digested food).
  • The small intestine receives bile juice and stores it in the gall bladder.

Liver-

  • The liver mainly secretes 'Bile Juice' which is stored in a Gall bladder.
  • Bile Juice and Pancreatic juice are released into the small intestine by a common duct.
  • Unused glucose is stored in the liver in the form of glycogen.
  • Heparin, Urea, and Bile Juice are produced in the liver.

Pancreas

  • It is located just below the stomach.
  • It secretes pancreatic juice which acts on carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
  • It converts them into simple molecules.
