Correct Answer - Option 2 : 30

Given:

Sum of two numbers is 72.

Calculation:

Let the two numbers be A and B such that A is greater than B

A decreased by 15% and B is increased by 19%.

According to statement, A × (85/100) = B × (119/100)

⇒ A × 5 = B × 7

⇒ A/B = 7/5

Let A be7x and B be 5x

Now, Sum = A + B = 7x + 5x = 12x = 72

⇒ x = 6

Smallest of the two numbers = B = 5x = 5 × 6 = 30

∴ Smaller number is 30
