Correct Answer - Option 3 : 264

Given:

A number is increased by 12.5%

Calculation:

12.5% = 12.5/100 = 1/8

We take original number = 8x,

Thus, if increased by 12.5%, number becomes 8x + 1x = 9x

Also, given new number = 297

⇒ 9x = 297

⇒ x = 33

Also, New number : original number = 9x : 8x

Thus, original number = 8x = 8 × 33 = 264

∴ The original number is 264
