Correct Answer - Option 4 : Delta region

The correct answer is Delta region.

  • Oxbow lake is a small lake in an abandoned river channel meander loop.
  • A river cuts through a meander neck to reduce its route, causing the previous channel to be quickly sealed off, and subsequently migrate away from the lake.
  • If only one loop is cut, the resulting lake is crescent-shaped; if more than one loop is cut, the resulting lake is serpentine or winding.
  • Oxbow lakes become silted up, forming marshes, and then meander scars, which are distinguished by diverse vegetation or the lack of cultivation.

  • A river delta is a landform formed by silt deposition carried by a river as it exits its mouth and enters slower-moving or stationary water.
  • This happens when a river flows into an ocean, sea, estuary, lake, reservoir, or (much less frequently) another river that can't convey the silt away.
