Correct Answer - Option 1 : Aitereya Brahmana

The Rigveda is a collection of ancient Indian Vedic hymns.

  • Aitareya Brahmana is a branch or part of the Rigveda ascribed to Mahidasa Aitareya.
  • It is divided into 8 Panchikas and the last two panchikas explain the coronation ceremony.
  • According to the Aitareya Brahmana, the coronation Oath should be repeated with faith. The king promises- “I will never be arbitrary.”
  • It appears that the Oath originated with the kingship.
  • An analysis of Oath discloses the following points.
    • That the trust in the king’s hand is his foremost solemn obligation.
    • That the country put under him is to be regarded as nothing less than God.
    • He is not to be arbitrary and to act according to the established law.
    • To offend against the country was to offend against God.

Therefore, we can conclude that Aitereya Brahmana's texts describe coronation.

  • The Tandya Mahabrahmana, also known as the Panchavimsha Brahmana from its consisting of twenty-five prapathakas is a Brahmana of the Samaveda, belonging to both of its Kauthuma and Ranayaniya shakhas.
    • It deals with the duties of the udgātṛs generally, and especially of the various kinds of chants.
  • The Kaushitaki Upanishad is an ancient Sanskrit text contained inside the Rigveda. It is associated with the Kaushitaki shakha, but a Sāmānya Upanishad, meaning that it is "common" to all schools of Vedanta.
  • The Shatapatha Brahmana is a commentary on the Śukla Yajurveda. It is written by the Father of the Indian philosophy saint Yajnavalkya. Described as the most complete, systematic, and important of the Brahmanas, it contains detailed explanations of Vedic sacrificial rituals, symbolism, and mythology.
