In a class of 60 where boys are twice that of girls, Ram ranked 17th from the top. If there are 9 boys ahead of Ram, how many girls are after him in the rank?

Correct Answer - Option 2 : 13

Let, No. of girls = x

Then, according to question No. of boys = 2x

Now, No. of boys + No. of girls = 60

2x + x = 60

3x = 60

x = 20

Therefore, no . of girls = 20      ----(i)

If ram is 17th from top then there are 16 people above him

Now, no. of girls = 16 - No. of boys

no. of girls = 16 - 9

no. of girls = 7      ----(ii)

No. of girls after him = Total no. of girls - No. of girls before him

Therefore, No. of girls after him = 20 - 7 { using (i) and (ii) }

No. of girls after him = 13

Therefore, Option 2 is the correct answer.
