Three resistors are connected to a 12V battery as shown in the figure given below :

1. What is the current through the 8Q resistor?

2. What is the potential difference across parallel combination of 6Q and 12Q?

r2 , r3 are in parallel

1/Rp = 1/12 +1/6 = 3/12 = 1/4

Rp = 4r1 and Rp are in series

:. R = r1 + r = 8 + 4 = 12Ω

1. I = v/R = 12/12 = IA

2. P.D across parallel combination AB

V = IRp

I × 4 = 4V

3. Current through 6Ω

I = v/r3 = 4/6 = 0.666

I = 0.67A
